We often focus on the negative impacts of absent fathers and mother & daugther relationships, but how often do we discuss the bond between a mother and her son, and how it serves as a mirror for the son's future relationships, whether platonic, professional, sexual, romantic, or familial? However, when a mother carries emotional or physical scars from her own traumas or life experiences, it can deeply affect her son; negatively shaping his emotional landscape, self-perception, and approach to relationships.
